This blog is for and about the Webster family. Each of us want to make choices every day that will result in optimal health and fitness. We represent different generations and different places in life - from empty-nesters to young families to students. Our health goals are as varied as we are, but we want to have a common place to post our progress and our challenges. We will be accountable to each other - to provide support, design incentives, share information we come across, and in general cheer each other on and celebrate our steps toward fitness! If anyone happens upon this blog and is inspired to be more fit and healthy that is icing on the cake. So here we go!

Kathy - We have come to the FIRST end!

Well folks, this is it.  The final day of our first 30-day family challenge is tomorrow.  Here is what to do:  Weigh yourself tomorrow, preferably after you go to the bathroom, before you eat anything, after you trim your fingernails, toenails, and hair, with next to nothing on.  Make a note of the number of pounds you have lost since we began this challenge and multiply it by 100.  Divide this by your beginning weight and you should end up with percentage of weight lost. Please post this on the blog tomorrow so we can determine a winner.

Hope this has been a good 30 days for you all.  I think the best thing to happen to me as a result of this challenge is working out with kettlebells.  Other positive things include eating more vegetables and fresh fruit, and becoming addicted to walking outdoors just about every day.  I was doing this before the challenge, but writing about it made me realize just how much I enjoy my daily tromp and how much I miss it when I miss it.

On a more serious note, and to show just one small reason why we are pursuing fitness here is a link (I hope!) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110209/ap_on_he_me/us_med_stroke_younger_victims to a bit of sobering news. Doesn't it make you glad we are doing this?!

PS:  Thanks for the family picture Katie - nice touch!
